Covid 19

During this unprecedented time where a virus started on the other side of the world and has spread to over 150 countries and has reached near our community, our concern is for the safety of our citizens.

This page will serve as a resources section for our local businesses about the coronavirus disease of 2019 (Covid-19).

Additional PPP Funding

PPP Info

The PPP is a forgivable loan program aimed at helping small businesses make payroll amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  The previous fund of $349 billion was exhausted in 14 days, with Mississippi small businesses receiving more than 14,200 loans equating to about $1.9 billion according to the SBA.

The new deal to add funding to the PPP is expected to be finalized tomorrow, April 24th.  The funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Some local banks are already accepting applications.

Small businesses should contact local banks to request these funds. Only those who make the effort to apply early will receive funds. If you or businesses in your community need more information, please visit www.sba.gov.

No Kid Hungry

Application for Emergency Grant Funding

No Kid Hungry is offering real-time funding and assistance to schools and community organizations that are making sure kids have access to the meals they need as schools close due to coronavirus. No Kid Hungry is providing emergency grants to support these local efforts like home-delivered meals, grab-and-go meals programs, school and community pantries, backpack programs, and other steps to help reach children and families who lose access to meals.

We are providing $1 million in emergency grants on a rolling basis. If you are aware of schools or local nonprofits in your community that could benefit from grant support to continue providing critical nutrition assistance, please share the following link and encourage them to apply.
